The Worry People

You show a small bag containing some miniature dolls and explain that they are ‘worry people’ made by the indigenous Mayan people of Guatemala, that belonged to your great aunt.

You get your guest to hold the worry people and to think of their own worries. They then write them down on a piece of paper which they fold and place into a black velvet bag. They then put the worry people back into their bag and this also is placed into the black velvet bag.

You now tell a story of how your great aunt obtained the worry people and how they helped her during her long adventurous life.

When you have finished the story, your guest removes the worry people and the piece of paper only to find that the worry people have done their job and the piece of paper is now blank. Their worries have disappeared!

Of course, being from the Black Hart, there is a story to accompany the effect.
