An effect using a replica antique deck (illustrated with a deck from 1688 featuring the heraldic arms of the British nobility - decks may vary according to availability). These are printed on plain card stock with plain backs and are very good for aging.
The effect features Matthew Hopkins, the infamous Witchfinder General in England during the 17th century.
Challenging his victims to a wager he took a deck of cards and asked them to name one (free choice) which was removed from the deck. The remainder were all seen to be plain unmarked cards. However when the chosen card was turned over it was seen to have the word ‘guilty’ written on the back.
No forces, no sleight of hand, instant re-set to go again with a different chosen card.
